Ethical Design Manifesto

Dear Readers,

now that we are pushing hard to expand our business with 5d+ 5dimensions, we cannot stress enough the importance of why we want to be authentic, ethical and sustainable. This is exactly the reason we even started!

We all time ago started as young designers who needed a job, urgently. And were asked eventually to do some type of project that was “not so good” for us, or for the customer, or for the user, or for our planet. But we needed the money. What did we do then? Some of us just took the project, and others, perhaps more brave or mature, said NO.

I remember times when I was tricked to do something “for the better good”, but it was in reality for the better good of someone in particular… and consequently I ended up unhappy.

Here I claim my “Mea Culpa” and apologise to the world, for the two years I worked with a company that not only exploited me but lied, manipulated and deceived employees, clients, users, financers (I mean everyone). One of our clients was a wealthy tycoon and weapon manufacturer, for pity’s sake!  I sort of knew about it but did not stand against because of my paycheck. Sorry. I really feel bad about it.

Sometime after that, I learned why is necessary to build strong work ethics, which come with a strong personality.

This is what Aral, Laura and Oskar represent: the desperate need to STAND FOR YOUR PRINCIPLES! whatever it takes, because our world is already too rotten in the business sector. I praise them for their effort and work, for their commitment and guidance.

Thanks Ind.ie

Human Rights

Technology that respects human rights is decentralised, peer-to-peer, zero-knowledge, end-to-end encrypted, free and open source, interoperable, accessible, and sustainable.

It respects and protects your civil liberties, reduces inequality, and benefits democracy.

Human Effort

Technology that respects human effort is functional, convenient, and reliable.

It is thoughtful and accommodating; not arrogant or demanding. It understands that you might be distracted or differently-abled. It respects the limited time you have on this planet.

Human Experience

Technology that respects human experience is beautiful, magical, and delightful.

It just works. It’s intuitive. It’s invisible. It recedes into the background of your life. It gives you joy. It empowers you with superpowers. It puts a smile on your face and makes your life better.

Thanks for your time and I hope it is useful for you.
